China to have 20 million internet users by 2025
China’s internet penetration is expected to reach 20 million by 2025, according to an article in The New York Times, which has long been skeptical of China’s claim that it is the world’s most populous country.
According to the report, China will have 20.2 million internet connections by 2025.
The country’s internet has a growing number of users, but the Times said that China’s average connection speed is only 30 percent of the average speed of the United States and Canada, which account for 40 percent of global internet users.
The Times said it’s unclear what will happen to the country’s aging internet infrastructure.
The paper reported last year that China is on track to reach 80 percent of its internet users in five years, while the country still has only 20 percent of internet users who are connected to the internet.
China also reported that it plans to expand internet access for the elderly by 2020, but only in rural areas.
