Russia bans Twitter from the UK

Russia has banned Twitter from UK for using its platform to disseminate information on political and economic matters, as it seeks to curb social media activism and the spread of disinformation.

The country has also imposed restrictions on websites and services operated by the social media giant.

Twitter and Facebook have faced increased criticism in the past year from government and industry officials over alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election.
