How to Read Your Facebook Newsfeed
The number of people reading the Facebook newsfeed has dropped to a near-record low of nearly 7 million in 2016, as a growing number of new users try to avoid the increasingly crowded feed.
The average monthly read time of a Facebook user has dropped from 3.7 seconds to 3.2 seconds, according to data from Statista, a tech site that tracks the number of times people have viewed posts, photos, and videos in a given month.
In 2015, it was 4.5 seconds, and it dropped to 3 seconds in 2016.
That represents an increase of nearly half a second.
In fact, the average daily read time dropped by almost a minute, from 3 minutes in 2015 to 2 minutes in 2016 according to Statista.
Facebook users are increasingly opting to avoid Facebook by clicking away from their feeds, a trend that was also seen last year.
