How to avoid a possible ‘sting’ for the NRL season – by checking your birth date.
Soccer player David Villa is one of the players with an injury record that’s been in the headlines this week.
In a match between Sydney FC and the Melbourne Storm in October, Villa was knocked out by a shoulder in the first minute of the match and did not return.
However, the 24-year-old returned to the field a week later and played a pivotal role in the win.
Villa has played for both Sydney FC (2015) and Melbourne Storm (2016).
The midfielder was born in Brisbane in 1996 and is the son of former Melbourne Storm and Melbourne City footballer George and wife Jessica.
He moved to Sydney in 2016 and made his debut for the Storm in Round 11 against Western Bulldogs.
He has made six appearances for the A-League club this season, with five of them coming in the final three rounds of the competition.
While Villa was unable to play the game against the Storm due to his injury, he is currently a member of the Sydney FC squad.
